Fries, Virginia

Fries (pronounced "freeze") is a town in Grayson County, Virginia, United States. The population was 484 as of the 200\\10 census. Fries is part of the Blue Ridge area, and shares in that region's old-time musical traditions. The small town is home to the Festival by the New River, held in September at the town park on the banks of the New River, and the Old-Time Fiddlers' and Bluegrass Convention in August, hosted by the local volunteer fire department.

Galax, Virginia

Galax is an independent city in the southwestern part of the Commonwealth of Virginia. It is bounded to the northeast by Carroll County and to the southwest by Grayson County. Matthews State Forest

Matthews State Forest is a Virginia state forest located in Grayson County, near the City of Galax. It is used for research into the American chestnut, as well as for demonstration of forestry management techniques; it serves as watershed protection and as a wildlife sanctuary, and has facilities for hiking. Hunting is permitted on its 566 acres .

Ivanhoe, Virginia

Ivanhoe is a census-designated place (CDP) in southern Wythe County, Virginia, United States, that straddles the border of Wythe County and Carroll County. The population as of the 2010 Census was 551. New River Trail State Park passes through Ivanhoe. It was the birthplace of Robert Sayers Sheffey, eccentric Methodist circuit rider and evangelist. Ivanhoe is situated in the Appalachian Mountains along New River.
