Budd Inlet

Budd Inlet is the southernmost arm of Puget Sound. The city of Olympia, Washington is located at the southern end of Budd Inlet. A deepwater shipping channel has been dredged providing deep water access to the Port of Olympia which is 25 nautical miles from Tacoma and 50 nautical miles from Seattle. Budd Inlet was named by Charles Wilkes during the United States Exploring Expedition, to honor Thomas A. Budd, who served as acting master of the Peacock and Vincennes.

Hope Island State Park (Mason County, Washington)

Hope Island State Park (Mason) in Mason County, Washington is a marine camping park in the Washington State Park System. It consists of 106 acres old-growth forest and salt marsh with a 1.5 miles beach on Puget Sound. The island is reachable only by boat. Available activities include hiking, fishing, clamming, beachcombing, and birdwatching. The park is administered as a satellite of Jarrell Cove State Park.

Peale Passage

Peale Passage is a strait, in the southern of part of Puget Sound in the U.S. state of Washington. Entirely within Mason County, Washington, Peale Passage separates Hartstine Island from Squaxin Island. Peale Passage was named by Charles Wilkes during the Wilkes Expedition of 1838-1842, to honor Titian Peale, one of the expedition's naturalists.

Squaxin Island

Squaxin Island is in the extreme southwestern part of Puget Sound in Mason County, Washington, USA. The island is an Indian reservation of the Native American Squaxin Island Tribe. It once contained a Washington State Park by the same name, which has since been closed, and the land returned to the Squaxin Tribe. The island's land area is 5.739 km² (2.216 sq mi). There was no resident population as of the 2000 census.
