Catatumbo lightning

The Catatumbo Lightning (Spanish Relámpago del Catatumbo) is an atmospheric phenomenon in Venezuela. It occurs strictly in an area located over the mouth of the Catatumbo River where it empties into Lake Maracaibo. The frequent, powerful flashes of lightning over this relatively small area are considered to be the world's largest single generator of tropospheric ozone, that is, ozone that does not replenish the stratospheric ozone layer.

Pico Bonpland

Pico Bonpland is Venezuela's third highest peak, at 4,883 metres above sea level. It is located in the Sierra Nevada de Merida, in the Venezuelan Andes of. The peak with its sister peak Pico Humboldt, and the surrounding páramos are protected by the Sierra Nevada National Park. The name of the peak is in honor to Aimé Bonpland, although he never visited the Venezuelan Andes. The glaciers located in the Bonpland were the result from Merida glaciation in the Pleistocene.

Pico Humboldt

Pico Humboldt is Venezuela's second highest peak, at 4,940 metres above sea level. It is located in the Sierra Nevada de Merida, in the Venezuelan Andes of. The peak with its sister peak Pico Bonpland, and the surrounding páramos are protected by the Sierra Nevada National Park. It is named after the famous German explorer and naturalist Alexander von Humboldt.

Mérida cable car

The Mérida Cable Car (Spanish: Teleférico de Mérida) was the world's highest cable car. Its base is located in the Venezuelan city of Mérida at an altitude of 1,640 metres, and its terminus is on Pico Espejo, at 4,765 metres . The whole system was opened to the public in 1960; it was closed indefinitely in 2008, with a declaration that it had reached the end of its service life and is being rebuilt. The Mérida cable car is the highest and largest cable car in the world.
