The airport is 10 km from the existing Phu Quoc Airport. It replaced the existing airport from 2 December 2012.

Koh Sess
Koh Sess of Koh Ses (also romanized as Kaoh Ses) is a Cambodian island located in southwestern Cambodia at the entrance of Kampot Bay. A 4.3 km wide sound separates it from Phu Quoc.
