Shurugwi
Shurugwi, formerly Selukwe, a town and administrative centre in Midlands Province, southern Zimbabwe, located about 350 km south of Harare; population 16,138 . The town was established in 1899 on Selukwe goldfield, which itself was discovered in the early 1890s not long after the annexation of Rhodesia by the Pioneer Column.

Gwenoro Dam
Gwenoro dam is located inside Ian Douglas Smith's farm, also known as Gwenoro farm. The dam supplies water to the nearby Gweru city and Shurugwi town in Zimbabwe. The dam is constructed on the Runde River (formerly Lundi River, a medium density surbub in Gweru is named after the river). The name Gwenoro is derived from a wild animal found in the area known in the local language of Shona as Nhoro (gweNORO), which means a place inhabited by Nhoro. The area is very beautiful and picturesque.
