Istalif

Istālif is a village about 18 miles northwest of Kabul, Afghanistan, situated at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:34.8403|N|69.1000|E||||| | |name= }} at 1693 m altitude. It is the center of Istalif District, Kabul Province, Afghanistan. The village was destroyed during the longlasting wars around Kabul. There are a few repaired or newly constructed buildings. The village needs a lot of work to be done to return its previous state. Istalif is famous for its handmade glazed potteries.

Tara Khēl

Tara Khēl is a village and the center of Deh Sabz District, Kabul Province, Afghanistan. It is situated northwest of Kabul at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:34.5767|N|69.2564|E||||| | |name= }} at 1794 m altitude. The village is big, with more than 2,000 households. It is close to the Kabul International Airport.

Salt Pit

The Salt Pit is the codename of an isolated clandestine CIA black site prison and interrogation center in Afghanistan. It is located north of Kabul and was the location of a brick factory prior to the Afghanistan War. The CIA adapted it for extrajudicial detention. In the winter of 2005, the "Salt Pit" became known to the general public because of two incidents.
