April 2009 Afghanistan earthquake
The 2009 Afghanistan earthquake was an earthquake of 5.5 moment magnitude that occurred in eastern Afghanistan on 15 April 2009, 01:57 local time . The earthquake was followed two hours later by an aftershock of 5.1 moment magnitude. The quakes struck about 50 miles (90 km) east of Kabul near the Pakistan border. A government representative told AP News that the quakes killed 22 people, wounded 20 and destroyed 100 homes.

The Battle of Tora Bora was a military engagement that took place in Afghanistan from December 12, 2001 to December 17, 2001, during the opening stages of the War in Afghanistan launched by the United States following the September 11 attacks.
