Estádio dos Coqueiros

Estádio dos Coqueiros is a multi-use stadium in Luanda, Angola. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Grupo Desportivo Interclube. The stadium holds 12,000 people and was originally built during the colonial times (pre-1975). It underwent major renovation works in 2004.

Fortress of São Miguel

For Canadian fort, see Fort San Miguel Fortaleza de São Miguel or Saint Michael Fortress was a Portuguese fortress built in Luanda, Angola. São Miguel fort was built in 1576 by Paulo Dias de Novais. It became the administrative center of the colony in 1627 and was a major outlet for slave traffic to Brazil. This old fortress of São Miguel overlooks Luanda Island beyond the port. This massive fort was for many years a self-contained town protected by thick walls encrusted with cannons.

Cathedral of Luanda

The Cathedral of Luanda (Cathedral of the Holy Saviour) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Luanda, Angola. It was built in 1628 and is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Luanda.

National Assembly (Angola)

The National Assembly is the legislative branch of the government of Angola. The National Assembly is a unicameral body, with 220 members: 130 members elected by proportional representation and 90 members elected by provincial districts. Theoretically, the Assembly sits for a four-year term. However, after the first election was held in 1992, the following election, scheduled for 1997, was delayed on numerous occasions until it was eventually held in September 2008.

Palácio de Ferro

Palácio de Ferro (English: Iron Palace) is a historical building in the Angolan capital Luanda, believed to be designed and built by – or by someone associated with – Gustave Eiffel, builder of the world-famous icons, the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Statue of Liberty in New York. The history of the structure is shrouded in mystery since no official record of it exists. It is believed to have been pre-built in the 1890s in France and was destined to be placed in Madagascar via boat.
