Kirrak railway line

Kirrak was a railway branch line, it was built in the 1930s to service the Kirrak Coal mine located near the town of Wonthaggi, Australia. The branch line operated until 1968, the short section of line was closed after the closure of the mine. For a period after the closure, the Monash Railway club ran a 153hp Walker Railcar along the track.

Archies Creek, Victoria

Archies Creek is a small town in Victoria, Australia. It is located on Dalyston - Korumburra Road, in the Bass Coast Shire, north-west of Wonthaggi. The Post Office, Archie's Creek, opened on 17 November 1899 and closed in 1986. Archies Creek was the seat of the Shire of Bass until it amalgamated in 1994.

Shire of Bass

The Shire of Bass was a local government area about 120 kilometres south-southeast of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of 526 square kilometres, and existed from 1871 until 1994. Its administrative centre was located in Archies Creek.

Wonthaggi railway station

Wonthaggi was a railway station located in the town of Wonthaggi, Victoria, Australia. Built to serve the town, as well as the State Coal Mine, the station was the official terminus station of the Wonthaggi line, but two short branch lines continued from the station leading to the Kirrak and Eastern Area mine extensions. The station operated until the line's closure in 1978, with the station building now preserved and used as a museum.
