Rositsa (river)

The Rositsa is a river in central northern Bulgaria, the most important tributary (a left one) of the Yantra River. It is 164 kilometres long and has a drainage basin of 2,265 square kilometres . Its ancient name was Lyginus. The river has its source in the Central Balkan Mountains between Shipka Pass to the east and Botev Peak to the west and flows north until Sevlievo, after which it gradually turns east-northeast until emptying into the Yantra.

Polski Trambesh

Polski Trambesh (also transliterated Polski Trǎmbeš or Polski Trumbesh) is a town in central northern Bulgaria, part of Veliko Tarnovo Province. It is the administrative centre of the homonymous Polski Trambesh Municipality, which lies in the northeastern part of the Province. The town is located 36 kilometres from the provincial capital of Veliko Tarnovo, 45 km from Svishtov, 35 km from Pavlikeni, 33 km from Gorna Oryahovitsa, 22 km from Byala, Rousse Province and 40 km from Strazhitsa.

Yantra (river)

The Yantra is a river in northern Bulgaria, a right tributary of the Danube. It is 285 km long (the third longest Bulgarian tributary of the Danube) and has a watershed of 7,862 km². The Yantra has its source from the northern foot of Hadzhi Dimitar Peak in Central Stara Planina, at 1,340 m. In its upper course, it is often called Etar (Етър), its older name. The river flows into the Danube close to Svishtov.

Nicopolis ad Istrum

Nicopolis ad Istrum (Greek: Νικόπολις η προς Ίστρον) was a Roman and Early Byzantine town founded by Emperor Trajan around 101–106, at the junction of the Iatrus and the Rositsa rivers, in memory of his victory over the Dacians. Its ruins are located at the village of Nikyup, 20 km north of Veliko Tarnovo in northern Bulgaria. The town reached its floruit during the reigns of Trajan, Hadrian, the Antonines and the Severan dynasty.
