Daksa (island)

Daksa is a small uninhabited island in the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea. It is situated near Dubrovnik in front of Rijeka Dubrovačka ria. The area of the island is about 0.07 km, the highest point is 24 m above sea level. The Daksa's Franciscan monastery was built in 1281. It was destroyed during the French occupation in early 19th century. The island was the site of the Daksa massacre upon Yugoslav partisans entrance of Dubrovnik in late October 1944.

Gruž

Gruž (also called St. Croce) is a modern day neighborhood in the greater city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. The main port for Dubrovnik is in Gruž as well as its largest market and the main bus station "Libertas". Around 15,000 people currently live in Gruž. While historically a manufacturing and industrial base for Dubrovnik, these days, the primarily residential neighborhood is about 2 km northwest of the more famous Old City.

Zaton, Dubrovnik-Neretva County

Zaton is a village in southern Croatia, located on the coast of the eponymous bay, 8 km northwest of Dubrovnik, next to the village of Orašac. Chief occupations are farming, viticulture, olive growing and tourism. Zaton is a tourist resort on the Dubrovnik Riviera, with restaurants, watersport venues, and an uphill hiking path to the village of Podbrezje (4.5 km), to visit Mociljska Cave with stalactites and stalagmites.

Republic of Ragusa

The Republic of Ragusa, or Republic of Dubrovnik, was a maritime republic centered on the city of Dubrovnik (Ragusa in Italian and Latin) in Dalmatia (today in southernmost modern Croatia), that existed from 1358 to 1808. It reached its commercial peak in the 15th and the 16th centuries, under the protection of the Ottoman Empire, before being conquered by Napoleon I's French Empire in 1808. It had a population of about 30,000 people, of whom 5,000 lived within the city walls.

Dubrovnik-Neretva County

The Dubrovnik–Neretva County is the southernmost Croatian county located in south Dalmatia. The county seat is Dubrovnik and other large towns are Korčula, Metković, Opuzen and Ploče. The Municipality of Neum, which belongs to neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina, divides the county in two parts. The southern part of the county consists of Dubrovnik and the surrounding area, including the Pelješac peninsula, the islands of Korčula, Lastovo, Mljet, Šipan, Lopud and Koločep.
