Psimolofou

Psimolofou or Psimolophou is village located about 16 km from Nicosia District Capital of Cyprus, en route to the historic Machairas Monastery. Psimolofou rests at a height of 340 meters from see level and it is surrounded by a number of perfectly flat hills and it is only 500 meters away from Padiaos river. Psimolofou was established as a small village since the 12th Century AD.

1967 Nicosia Britannia disaster

The Nicosia Britannia disaster was the death of 126 passengers and crew on a Bristol Britannia of the Swiss airline Globe Air when it flew into the ground 3.5km (2.2 miles) south of Nicosia Airport, in Cyprus.

Makario Stadium

Makario Stadium is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus. It was the largest and main sports venue of the capital up to the construction of the GSP stadium in 1999. At present it is mostly used for football matches and is the home ground of Digenis Morphou and Ethnikos Assia. The stadium holds 16,000 seated spectators. The playing field is surrounded by a running track and can be adapted to hold most track and field events.

Eleftheria Indoor Hall

Eleftheria Athletic Center, officially named Tassos Papadopoulos Eleftheria Indoor Hall (Greek: κλειστό στάδιο "Τάσσος Παπαδόπουλος - Ελευθερία" is an indoor arena beside Makario Stadium and Lefkotheo Indoor Hall in Engomi, Nicosia, Cyprus. It is the home venue of the Omonia BC, ETHA Engomis and Cyprus national basketball team. Currently the arena has a capacity around 6,800 seats and it is the biggest sports indoor hall in the island. It was built in 1993.
