Tranebjerg
Tranebjerg is a small town on the island of Samsø, Denmark with a population of only 847 (1 January 2012). In spite of that Tranebjerg is by far the largest town on the island and the municipal seat of the small Samsø Municipality. Once Tranebjerg had a castle, but it was destroyed by Marsk Stig in the year 1288.

Samsø is a Danish island in the Kattegat 15 kilometers off the Jutland Peninsula. Samsø is located in Samsø municipality. The community has 4,300 inhabitants (2009) called Samsings and is 114 km² in area. Due to its central location, the island was used during the Viking Age as a meeting place. The etymology of the island's name is unknown. In 1997, Samsø won a government competition to become a model renewable energy community. Now 100% of its electricity comes from wind power.

The island is located in the Kattegat between the Danish mainland of Jutland and the island of Zealand (Sjælland). The municipality includes the small island of Hjortholm off its northeast coast, and it covers an area of 114 km². It has a total population of 4.085 (2008). Its mayor is Carsten Bruun, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.
