Alrø

Alrø is a small Danish island in Horsens Fjord on the east coast of Jutland within Odder Municipality. With an area of 7.5 km, as of 1 January 2010 it has a population of 160. The island is 7 km long and 4 km wide at the widest point. It can be reached by road over the dam which connects it to the mainland on the northern side of the fjord. Alrø has been inhabited since the Stone Age. It has a small Romanesque church which dates from the 14th century.

Horsens Fjord

Horsens Fjord is an inlet in the east coast of the Danish peninsula of Jutland which stretches from the islands of Alrø and Hjarnø in the east to the town of Horsens on the mainland. It is some 20 kilometres long. The navigational channel to Horsens has a depth of 7 metres . Like the other East Jutland "fjords", geologically it is no fjord. The islands in the fjord are low-lying with grasslands and lagoons along their coasts.

Hjarnø

Hjarnø is a small Danish island at the mouth of Horsens Fjord on the east coast of Jutland in Hedensted Municipality. With an area of 3.2 km, as of 1 January 2010 it has a population of 98. A regular ferry service connects the island with Snaptun on the mainland. Most of the buildings are farms, lining the road which crosses the island from east to west. The church is from the 16th century. There is an area with 10 stones, the so-called Kalvestenene, from the Viking period.

Odder

Odder is a town in the Odder municipality, just south of Aarhus, and in Region Midtjylland. Some say Odder is a satellite town of Aarhus today and with a population of 11,375 (1 January 2011). In the 1980s, the town was host to Edelweiss, the biggest discothèque in Denmark. The municipality is in the East Jutland metropolitan area, with 1.2 million inhabitants. In 2006, the chain of office (necklace) of the borgmester (mayor) of Odder was daringly stolen from the mayoral briefcase.
