Battle of Lundby

The Battle of Lundby happened south of Lundby in northeast Himmerland on 3 July 1864 in the Second War of Schleswig. A Danish company of the First Regiment tried a head-on bayonet charge down a long hillside, but stopped 20 meters in front of the earth dike that the Prussians lay in cover behind. This battle was the last in the Second War of Schleswig, and resulted in great Danish losses.

Lundby, Aalborg

Lundby is an old farming village on the highway between Aalborg and Hadsund, about 12 km southeast of Aalborg. Lundby is included in Gunderup Sogn and Aalborg Municipality. North of Lundby are Lundby Bakker and Krat. On the hill slope south of Lundby the Battle of Lundby took place on 3 July 1864. There is a monument at the highway and a small memorial collection at the town that is open at the anniversary of the battle.

Sejlflod Municipality

Sejlflod Municipality was a municipality in the former North Jutland County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 208 km², and had a total population of 9,394 (2005). Its last mayor was Kristian Schnoor, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The main town and site of its municipal council was the town of Storvorde, ca. 12 kilometers east of Aalborg city center. To the east is Ålborg Bay (Ålborg Bugt).

Aalborg County

Aalborg County is a former province in Denmark, located in north-eastern Jutland around the eastern approach to the Limfjord. Aalborg County was established in 1793 and abolished in 1970 when it merged with Hjørring County forming the new North Jutland County. The region belonged to Himmersyssel during the Middle Ages, with the exception of Kær Herred - located north of the Limfjord - which belonged to Vendsyssel. In 1542, the north Jutland region was reorganised as Aalborghus Len.
