Bellinge, Denmark

Bellinge is a village in Denmark. It is situated southwest of Odense, and is a suburb of the city. As of 1 January 2011 the village has a population of 4,505. It is known for its church, Bellinge Kirke, with murals dating from 1496.

Dyrup

Dyrup is a community and leafy suburb of Odense SW, Denmark, along the green Odense River valley. Before the 1950s, Dyrup had approximately 700 inhabitants, was mostly rural and part of Sanderum municipality and parish. It is mentioned in 1497 as "Dyroppe", but is significantly older and shares its name with old Dyrupgård. Today, Dyrup has approximately 4,500 inhabitants, is part of Odense Municipality and has its own church.

Funen

Funen, with an area of 2,984 km² (1152 sq. miles), is the fourth-largest island of Denmark, after Greenland, Zealand and Vendsyssel-Thy. It is the 163rd largest island in the world. It is in the central part of the country and has a population of 454,358 (2010). The main city is Odense, connected to the sea by a seldom-used canal. The city's shipyard Odense Steel Shipyard has been relocated outside of Odense proper. Funen belongs administratively to Region of Southern Denmark.

The Funen Village

The Funen Village (Danish: Den Fynske Landsby) is a Danish open air museum located in the Fruens Bøge district of Odense. It features 25 buildings from Funish villages, most of which date to the 18th and 19th century. The Funen Village was founded as a public works project in 1942, during the German occupation of Denmark, and opened to the public on 1 April 1946. Among the guests attending the opening were King Christian X.

Maderup Mølle

Maderup Mølle is a smock mill originally built in Maderup, about 10 kilometres south-west of Bogense, on the island of Funen in Denmark. It was constructed in 1832 and operated as a grain mill until the mid-1930s. The building was dismantled in 1941 and moved to The Funen Village, an open-air museum in Odense, where it now stands. The windmill is built to an octagonal design. The upper part is reed-thatched, and the cap is thatched with straw.
