Until January 1, 2007, Broby municipality was a municipality in Funen County in central Denmark (but a small town called Broby is also found in the southern parts Sweden). Faaborg or Fåborg is a Danish town with a population of 7,200 (1 January 2012), located in Faaborg-Midtfyn municipality on the island of Funen. It was formerly the seat of Faaborg municipality. The seat of the new municipality is Ringe. Both municipalities use(d) Faaborg's medieval coat of arms. Faaborg is first mentioned in a document, located in the French National Archives in Paris, dated June 25, 1229.
