Billund Municipality

Billund Kommune is a municipality in Region of Southern Denmark in the center of the Jutland Peninsula of Denmark. Formerly the municipality belonged to Ribe County. The new, merged municipality covers an area of 155 km², and has a total population of 26.172 (2010). Its mayor is Ib Kristensen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The site of its municipal council is the town of Grindsted, which is the largest town in the municipality followed by the city of Billund.

Billund, Denmark

Billund is a small town in Jutland, Denmark, most notable as the home of the LEGO Group head office. A typical company town, it is also known for its theme park, Legoland, and for Billund Airport which is the second biggest airport in Denmark. The airport opened in 1964 and was built by the LEGO Group, but is now run independently.

Laeborg Runestone

The Læborg or Laeborg Runestone, listed as DR 26 in the Rundata catalog, is a Viking Age memorial runestone located outside of the village hall or Forsamlinghus in Læborg, which is about 3 kilometers north of Vejen, Denmark. The stone includes two depictions of the hammer of the Norse pagan god Thor.

Legoland Billund

Legoland Billund, the original Legoland park, opened on June 7, 1968 in Billund, Denmark. The park is located next to the original Lego factory and Denmark's second busiest airport Billund Airport. Over 1.9 million guests visited the park in 2011 and over the years more than 50 million guests have sought entertainment in the park. This makes Legoland the largest tourist attraction in Denmark outside of Copenhagen.
