Gebel el-Silsila
Gebel el-Silsila or Gebel Silsileh is 65 km north of Aswan, where the cliffs on both sides of the Nile narrow. The name Kheny (or sometimes Khenu) means "The Place of Rowing". It was used as a quarry site from at least the 18th Dynasty to Greco-Roman times. On the west bank are rock cut shrines for Horemheb, Seti I, Ramesses II and Merenptah. A chapel dedicated by User, vizier under Hatshepsut, is also located there.

It was originally an Egyptian city called Nubt, meaning City of Gold (not to be confused with the city north of Naqada that was also called Nubt/Ombos). It became a Greek settlement during the Greco-Roman Period.

Temple of Kom Ombo
The Temple of Kom Ombo is an unusual double temple built during the Ptolemaic dynasty in the Egyptian town of Kom Ombo. Some additions to it were later made during the Roman period. The building is unique because its 'double' design meant that there were courts, halls, sanctuaries and rooms duplicated for two sets of gods. The southern half of the temple was dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek, god of fertility and creator of the world with Hathor and Khonsu.
