Naqada culture

The Naqada culture is an archaeological culture of Chalcolithic Predynastic Egypt (ca. 4400–3000 BC), named for the town of Naqada, Qena Governorate. Its final phase, Naqada III is coterminous with the so-called Protodynastic Period of Ancient Egypt .

Dendera Temple complex

Dendera Temple complex, (19th century English spelling in most sources, including Belzoni was Tentyra). located about 2.5 km south-east of Dendera, Egypt. It is one of the best-preserved temple complexes in Egypt. The area was used as the sixth Nome of Upper Egypt, south of Abydos.

Dendera zodiac

The sculptured Dendera zodiac (or Denderah zodiac) is a widely known Egyptian bas-relief from the ceiling of the pronaos of a chapel dedicated to Osiris in the Hathor temple at Dendera, containing images of Taurus and the Libra (the scales). This chapel was begun in the late Ptolemaic period; its pronaos was added by the emperor Tiberius.

Apollonopolis Parva (Qus)

Apollonopolis Parva or Apollonopolis Mikra or Apollinopolis Mikra or Apollonos Vicus, was an ancient town of the Thebaid, in the Coptite Nome, in latitude 26° north, situated between Thebes and Coptos. It stood on the eastern bank of the Nile, and carried on an active trade with Berenice and Myos Hormos, on the Red Sea. Apollonopolis Parva was ca. 35 km distant from Thebes, and is the modern Qus (Kuss).
