The station serves the S, U, E and night train L lines between Central Helsinki and Kirkkonummi, and is between the stations of Mankki and Espoo Central. The station has three platforms, one for trains towards Kirkkonummi, one towards Espoo and Helsinki, and one for the line E.

To the east, Espoon keskus borders the city of Kauniainen, an enclave within the city of Espoo. Even though Espoon keskus is located at the approximate geographical centre of the city, it is not a major population or economic center.

Espoo railway station
Espoo railway station is a railway station located in the district of Espoon keskus in the city of Espoo, Finland. It is located between the stations of Tuomarila and Kauklahti, about 20 kilometres from the Helsinki Central railway station. Espoo is the only station in Espoo city that also serves long-distance trains. It was built in 1903 according to plans by the architect Bruno Granholm. The station was expanded in 1909. The station building has many ornamental details.
