Tammela Stadion

Tammela Stadion is a football stadium in Tampere, Finland. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 5,040 people and was built in 1931. It is the home stadium for the second division teams TPV and Ilves. The stadium's history began in 1926 when the city council made a decision of building a football field in Tammela. Constructions, however, advanced rather slowly due to lack of funds. The situation worsened during a recession in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

Tampere Opera

The Tampere Opera, established in 1946, is an opera house based in Tampere, Finland. The opera is run by guest artists. Their orchestra is the Tampere Filharmonia. The choir is composed of 80 singers and is led by Heikki Liimola. The first visit abroad of Tampere Opera was in 2005, when they visited the National Theatre in Prague.

Kaleva (Tampere)

Kaleva is an eastern part of the city of Tampere, Finland. The population of Kaleva is approximately 10,000 (2005). The most notable landmark is the Kaleva Church, built between 1959 and 1966. Kaleva has many educational institutions, the folk high school Sampola and vocational school of economics, two high schools (lukio); Kalevan lukio and Sammon keskuslukio, and two comprehensive schools. It's also the home of the biggest swimming hall in Tampere.

University of Tampere

The University of Tampere is a university in Tampere, Finland. It has 15,400 degree students and 2,100 employees. It was originally founded in 1925 in Helsinki as a "Civic College" (Kansalaiskorkeakoulu), and from 1930 onwards it was known as a "School of Social Sciences" (Yhteiskunnallinen korkeakoulu). In 1960, the institution relocated to Tampere, and in 1966 it was officially named University of Tampere.

Tampere railway station

The Tampere railway station is a functionalist building in Tampere, Finland, designed by Eero Seppälä and Otto Flodin, completed in 1936. The 36-metre clock tower was later added because the Finnish railway bureau required it (its total height from ground level is about 50 metres). The city's main street Hämeenkatu begins at the railway station, continuing over the Hämeensilta bridge to its western end at the Aleksanteri church.
