Rostock Heath

Rostock Heath is a wood and heathland region northeast of the German city of Rostock. It has a total area of about 6000 hectares and, since 1252, has been owned by the Hanseatic city of Rostock. As a result of its ownership of the Rostock Heath, Rostock is today one of the five largest communal woodland owners in Germany. In the district of Rostock is the sub-district of Rostocker Heide with its head office in the village of Gelbensande.

Force Attack

Force Attack is a music festival, which is organized every year on the last July weekend in Behnkenhagen in the municipality Süderholz near Rostock. Approximately 50 bands mainly from the genres Punk, Ska, Oi!, Hardcore, Psychobilly and Metal are performing for three days on two stages. As multicolored as the program are the visitors of the festival. The event is claimed to be the biggest punk party in the world.

Dierkow

Dierkow near Rostock, Mecklenburg, was a Viking Age Slavic-Scandinavian settlement at the southern Baltic coast in the late 8th and early 9th century. Neither the site itself, nor the adjacent Slavic burghs Kessin and Fresendorf have yet been sufficiently researched.

Kontek

The Kontek HVDC is a 170-kilometre long, monopolar 400 kV high-voltage direct current cable between Germany and the Danish island Zealand. Its name comes from "continent" and the name of the former Danish power transmission company "Elkraft", which operated the power grid on the Danish islands Lolland, Falster and Zealand and had the abbreviation "ek". As of today, the cable is operated by Energinet. dk in Denmark and 50Hertz Transmission GmbH in Germany.
