Trapani (Italian: Provincia di Trapani, Sicilian: Pruvincia di Tràpani) is a province in the autonomous island region of Sicily in Italy. Its capital is the city of Trapani. It has an area of 2,460 km², and a total population of 425,121 (2001). There are 24 comunes in the province. Besides the capital Trapani, other cities and places of interest in the province include Segesta, Gibellina, Erice, Castelvetrano, Alcamo, Marsala, Mazara del Vallo, Castellammare del Golfo, and Mozia.

Riserva naturale integrale Saline di Trapani e Paceco

Riserva naturale integrale Saline di Trapani e Paceco is a nature reserve in the Province of Trapani between the municipalities Marsala, Trapani, and Paceco at the west coast of Sicily. It was founded in 1995 and in the framework of the Ramsar Convention entrusted to WWF Italy. It has an areal of 987 ha and consists of two zones (Zona A and Zona B). Besides a remarkable Mediterranean flora and fauna there is a saline work museum in an old salt mill.

Levanzo

Levanzo is the smallest of the three main Aegadian Islands in the Mediterranean Sea west of Sicily, Italy. It forms a part of the municipality of Favignana in the Province of Trapani. Levanzo has an area of 5,82 km² . The highest point is Pizzo Monaco with a height of 278 m. The island has about 450 inhabitants. The habitation is mainly centered around a tiny port, that gives little shelter from storms. The ancient name of the island was "Phorbantia" which is a sort of plants growing there.
