Boom Gorge

Boom Gorge ('shoestring gorge', Kyrgyz: Боом капчыгайы, Russian: Боомское ущелье) is an antecedent gorge in Chuy Province and Issyk-Kul Province of Kyrgyzstan. From the Russian spelling, the English pronunciation would be 'boh-ohm'. The gorge cuts, in a general north-south direction, across one of Tian Shan's mountain range systems. The range east of the gorge is known as Kyungey Ala-Too (Russian: Кюнгей Ала-Тоо, based on similar Kyrgyz spelling), the one to the west is the Kyrgyz Range.
