Wadi al-Taym, also transliterated as Wadi el-Taym is a wadi (dry river) that forms a large fertile valley in southern Lebanon, near Hasbaya on the western slopes of Mount Hermon. It adjoins the Beqaa valley running north to south towards the Jordan valley where it meets the northwest corner of Lake Huleh. Battle of Merdjayoun (19–24 June 1941) - In the Syria-Lebanon campaign of World War II, Australian troops fought a long and sometimes costly battle around Merdjayoun. They held a pass which could have allowed the Vichy French forces into the British Mandate of Palestine, with dire results. The 7th Australian Division—commanded by Major-General Arthur "Tubby" Allen—was reinforced by units from the 6th Australian Division.

Marjayoun (Arabic مرجعيون, also Marj 'Ayoun, Marjuyun or Marjeyoun - meaning "meadow of springs") is a Lebanese town and administrative district, Marjeyoun District, in the Nabatieh Governorate in Southern Lebanon. It is located on the west side of the Rift Valley Bank just across from the ancient regional capital, Caesarea Philippi, which was located at the foot of Mt. Hermon on the east side of the Rift Valley. It is not to be confused with the Banias Springs at Caesarea Philippi.
