Bagan Serai

Bagan Serai is a small town in Perak, Malaysia. It is located in Kerian district and is an important collecting and processing location for the paddy plantation of the Kerian scheme. Bagan Serai is also the name of the parliamentary constituency in which the town is located. It is also notable for its Indian popullation established in the late 1800s more recently the subject of racism. The word “Bagan” in Malay means a jetty or a place of landing for some business activities.

Parit Buntar

Parit Buntar is a main town in Kerian district, on the northwestern tip of Perak, Malaysia. The name Parit Buntar originated from a well-known leader, Tok Buntar, who was famous at the time when he and his followers built the drainage system, which used water from the Kerian River to irrigate the surrounding paddy fields. The main drain was named "Parit Tok Buntar" meaning the drain of Tok Buntar. Later on, the town where the main drain is located was named Parit Buntar.
