Gua Tempurung

Gua Tempurung is a cave in Gopeng, Perak, Malaysia. It is popular among spelunkers, or caving enthusiasts. More than 3 km long, it is one of the longest caves in Peninsula Malaysia. Part of it has been developed as a show cave with electric lighting and walkways and there are a range of tours of different lengths and difficulty. A fine river cave, the river passage runs about 1.6 km through the hill. There are three very large chambers and some spectacular stalactites and stalagmites.

Kampung Jahang

Kampung Jahang or (commonly known as Jahang by locals) is a traditional Malay village located within the outskirt of Gopeng, Perak. It is one of many Malay villages located to the east side of Gopeng, near to the hill slopes. Everybody here is from the Malay Rawa community. There are very little commercial activity here however there are small kiosk erected by locals to sell foods (kueh) and even beverages. The residents usually go to Gopeng to get their rations and other significant deals.

Kampung Lawan Kuda

Kampung Lawan Kuda is one of the oldest Malay villages located alongside the old trunk road, Jalan Kampar-Gopeng, in Gopeng, Perak. The village is clearly visible along the road just after Kampung Tersusun Kampung Pulai by heading south towards Kampar. Kampung Lawan Kuda is also located very near to the left side after the Gopeng Toll Exit from the PLUS Highway.

2009 Perak suspension bridge collapse

The 2009 Perak suspension bridge collapse took place on 26 October 2009. About 22 schoolchildren were feared drowned after plunging into the Kampar River when a suspension bridge they were crossing collapsed on Monday night in Kuala Dipang near Kampar, Perak. 19 people safe and three others dead. The Kampar River is known for extreme water sports. The part of the river where the bridge collapsed is about 30 metres wide and 1.5 metres deep.
