Woodcocks, New Zealand

Woodcocks is a locality 15 km west of Warkworth in the Rodney District of New Zealand. It was named in honour of the Woodcock family who settled there around 1895. Woodcocks train station was located on the North Auckland Line and provided for livestock and general freight, as well as passengers. It was opened in 1904 and closed in 1964, with all traffic redirected to Kaipara Flats station, 5 km further north.

Hoteo River

The Hoteo River is a river of the Auckland Region of New Zealand. It flows southwest from its sources close to the North Auckland Peninsula's east coast before emptying into the southern lobe of the Kaipara Harbour. The lower reaches of the river are popular with whitebaiters and recreational fishermen and the river also hosts the annual Hoteo River Raft Race, a no-holds-barred event.

Warkworth Radio Observatory

The Warkworth Radio Astronomical Observatory is located just south of Warkworth off SH1 about 50 km north of Auckland and is operated by the Institute of Radio Astronomy and Space Research, AUT University.

Warkworth, New Zealand

Warkworth is a town in the upper North Island of New Zealand, within the Rodney District and lying at the far north of the Auckland Region but just south of the Northland Region. It is located on State Highway 1, 64 km north of Auckland and 98 km south of Whangarei, and is at the head of Mahurangi Harbour. The population was 3,270 according to the 2006 census, an increase of 15.7 percent over the preceding five years.

Rodney District

Rodney District Name Rodney District Population 100,000 (June 2012 estimate) Land area 2,427.01 km² (937.07 sq mi) Extent Muriwai to Hibiscus Coast; south to Helensville Rodney District was a local government area in the northernmost part of New Zealand's Auckland Region from 1989 to 2010. It was created from the amalgamation of Helensville Borough and Rodney County in 1989. The seat of the district council was at Orewa, and the district included Kawau Island.
