Widerøe Flight 933

Widerøe Flight 933, also known as the Mehamn Accident, was a crash of a Widerøe-operated de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter into the Barents Sea off Gamvik, Norway. The incident occurred on 11 March 1982 at 13:27 and killed all fifteen people on board. Four official investigations have concluded that the accident was caused by structural failure in the vertical stabilizer and rudder during clear-air turbulence.

Tanafjord

The Tanafjord or Tanafjorden is a large fjord in Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the municipalities of Tana, Gamvik, and Berlevåg. Its orientation is mainly north-south, reaching approximately 65 kilometres from the small village of Smalfjord in Tana Municipality in the south to the mouth of the fjord at the Barents Sea. The fjord separates the Nordkinn Peninsula in the west from the Varanger Peninsula in the east. The Tana River empties into the southern part of the fjord.
