The Freifjorden is a fjord in the municipalities of Kristiansund, Tingvoll, and Gjemnes in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The 14-kilometre long fjord begins near the island of Tustna and flows southwest between the islands of Nordlandet and Frei on the west side and the mainland peninsula of Straumsnes and the islands of Aspøya and Bergsøya on the east side. The Kvernesfjord lies at the west end of the Freifjorden, near the Freifjord Tunnel.

The Battle of Rastarkalv (Slaget på Rastarkalv) took place in AD 955 on the island of Frei in the county of Møre og Romsdal, Norway. This was one of several battles between the forces of King Haakon the Good and those of the sons of Eirik Bloodaxe (Eiriksønnene). After their father's death, Harald Greycloak and his brothers were allied against King Haakon with King Harald I of Denmark of Denmark.

Omsund Bridge is a bridge that crosses the Omsundet between the islands of Frei and Nordlandet, in the municipality of Kristiansund in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is actually made up of two bridges, since the main bridge does not span the entire strait. The main bridge crosses form Nordlandet to the islet of Rensvikholmen and then a smaller bridge completes the crossing to Frei.
