Bara, FATA

Bara is a town located in Bara Tehsil in Khyber Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Pakistan. To the south is Kohat district, to the north Peshawar. Bara is also the name of the local administrative division Bara Tehsil of the Khyber Agency within the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan, of which Bara Town is the administrative seat. The Bara River flows through the district. From the era of the Raj the town has held a fort and supplied water to Peshawar.

Bara Tehsil

Bara is a tehsil located in Khyber Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Pakistan. In the 2000s, Bara achieved some mention in worldwide media with the founding of Lashkar-e-Islam, founded in the area by Mufti Munir Shakir, and later passed to Mangal Bagh, a local driver.

Kohat Tunnel

The Kohat Tunnel is a 1.9 kilometres long road tunnel located in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Constructed with Japanese assistance, it is also known as the Pak-Japan Friendship Tunnel. Construction on the tunnel began in 1999, and opened to traffic in June 2003. As part of the developing Indus Highway system, the tunnel serves as a shorter, alternate route to the Kohat Pass, situated between the cities of Peshawar and Kohat.

PAF Base Kohat

Kohat Airbase is an Air Force base and a Air Force facility that is located in Kohat, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. On February 20, 2003, Air Chief Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir and 16 others were killed when their Fokker F27 crashed into the hills near the airbase. The aircraft was inbound to Kohat from Chaklala Airbase. Included in the dead were the wife of Mushaf Ali Mir and two Air Vice Marshals.

Hayatabad

Hayatabad is a modern suburb on the south-western fringe of Peshawar, the capital of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It was named after Hayat Sherpao, former Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a notable leader of Pakistan Peoples Party. It is close to the Khyber Agency which leads to Khyber Pass, a prominent route through the Hindu Kush mountains to Landi Kotal, the highest point of the pass, and the Afghan border.
