Parachinar Airport

Parachinar Airport is an airport located in Parachinar, FATA, Pakistan. Located at about a 25 minute drive from the center of Parachinar, it is the only airport in FATA that is served by any passenger airline, namely Pakistan International Airlines. 2008 Parachinar bombing

In the Parachinar bombing of 16 February 2008, a suicide bomber in Parachinar, Pakistan killed 47 people and injured 93 attending a political rally for the opposition Pakistan Peoples Party. The attack occurred on the eve of the 2008 Pakistani general election to be held on 18 February when an explosives-laden car was rammed into the election office of an independent candidate in Parachinar. The attack targeted people waiting for food outside of Riaz Shah's house.

April 2009 Afghanistan earthquake

The 2009 Afghanistan earthquake was an earthquake of 5.5 moment magnitude that occurred in eastern Afghanistan on 15 April 2009, 01:57 local time . The earthquake was followed two hours later by an aftershock of 5.1 moment magnitude. The quakes struck about 50 miles (90 km) east of Kabul near the Pakistan border. A government representative told AP News that the quakes killed 22 people, wounded 20 and destroyed 100 homes.
