Ponson Island

Ponson Island is an island located in the province of Cebu, located east of Cebu Island and west of Leyte Island. Pilar, Cebu is the island's sole municipality. It is one of the four Camotes Islands along with Pacijan Island, Poro Island, and Tulang Island. This island is composed of thirteen barangays which is also composed of three sitio. There is no telephone line in this island and the electricity is available from 11:00 A.M. until 5:00 A.M.

Japanese destroyer Naganami

Japanese destroyer Naganami was a Yūgumo-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. During the 30 November 1942 Battle of Tassafaronga, Naganami led a supply-drum transport run to Guadalcanal (cover), and engaged a U.S. cruiser-destroyer group. During this action, she possibly torpedoed USS Pensacola (CA-24), and/or Northampton. On October 23, 1944, during the Battle of Leyte Gulf, Naganami escorted Admiral Kurita's 1st Diversion Attack Force.

Japanese destroyer Hamanami

Japanese destroyer Hamanami was a Yūgumo-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Participated in Battle of the Philippine Sea. Battle of Leyte Gulf: Battle off Samar: Assigned to 1st Diversion Task Force, On October 26 assisted the sinking Noshiro. On 11 November 1944, Hamanami was escorting troop convoy TA No.  3 from Manila, Philippines to Ormoc. She was sunk by aircraft of Task Force 38 in Ormoc Bay, west of Leyte, with 63 killed and 42 injured.

Japanese destroyer Shimakaze (1942)

(Island Wind) was a one-off super-destroyer built for the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. She was armed with six 127 mm dual purpose guns and conventional anti-aircraft and anti-submarine weaponry. More importantly, she was the only Japanese destroyer to be armed with 15 torpedo tubes each capable of firing the deadly 610 mm Type 93 "Long Lance" torpedo.

USS Mahan (DD-364)

The second USS Mahan (DD-364) was the lead ship of the Mahan class destroyers of the United States Navy. She was named for Rear Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan, a leading 19th century naval historian and strategic theorist. The builder of Mahan was United Dry Docks, Inc. , successor to Morse Dry Dock and Repair Company, Staten Island, New York. Her keel was laid down on 12 June 1934; launched on 15 October 1935, and sponsored by Miss Kathleen H. Mahan, the admiral's great-granddaughter.
