Silesian Voivodeship

Silesian Voivodeship, or Silesia Province, is a voivodeship, or province, in southern Poland, centering on the historic region known as Upper Silesia (Górny Śląsk), with the capital in Katowice. Contrary to the name, however, eastern half of Silesian Voivodeship is not historical Silesia, but Lesser Poland. It was created on January 1, 1999, out of the former Katowice, Częstochowa and Bielsko-Biała Voivodeships, pursuant to the Polish local government reforms adopted in 1998.

TVP Katowice (tower)

TVP Katowice Tower is a 90 meter high reinforced concrete telecommunication tower in Katowice, Poland. It is the property of TP EMITEL, and is not accessible by tourists. It started broadcasdting in 1957. TVP 3 Katowice at 6 October 2007 changed name on TVP KATOWICE

Katowice Trade Hall roof collapse

On 28 January 2006, the roof of one of the buildings at Katowice International Fair (Międzynarodowe Targi Katowickie) collapsed in Chorzów / Katowice, Poland. At 16:15 GMT, the central section of the roof of the hall collapsed, possibly due to the weight of snow on the building. According to the police there were roughly 700 people in the hall at the time of the collapse. A further collapse occurred 90 minutes later during rescue operations.

Czeladź

Czeladź is a town in Zagłębie Dąbrowskie (part of historic Lesser Poland), in southern Poland, near Katowice and Sosnowiec. Located in the Silesian Highlands, on the Brynica river (tributary of the Vistula), it is the oldest urban center of Zagłębie Dąbrowskie. The area of Czeladź is 16 km. , and it borders Bedzin, Sosnowiec, Katowice and Siemianowice Śląskie. The town is situated in the Silesian Voivodeship since its formation in 1999, previously it was in Katowice Voivodeship.
