Bircza

Bircza is a village in Przemyśl County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-eastern Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Bircza. It lies approximately 24 kilometres south-west of Przemyśl and 51 km south-east of the regional capital Rzeszów. The village has a population of 1,000. In Bircza was born Orthodox metropolitan Yov Boretsky and Jan Komski. Before World War II, the Bircza area was home to a large Jewish community.

Arłamów Airport

Arłamów Airport is a former government airport in the extreme southeast of Poland, in gmina Bircza. The airport was built in the late 1970s in the vicinity of a secret, luxurious, recreational complex called Arłamów. This exclusive, highly protected complex was situated in the midst of a heavily forested area that was accessible only with difficulty. Since it was highly popular among the chief representatives of the Polish Communist government easy access to the facilities was badly needed.
