Mihăileşti explosion

The Mihăileşti explosion occurred on the 24th of May 2004 in the village of Mihăileşti, Buzău County, Romania. A truck loaded with ammonium nitrate rolled over and caught fire, and one hour later exploded killing 18 people. At 4:57 AM local time, a truck loaded with 20 tons of ammonium nitrate rolled over on the express road E85 connecting Bucharest with Moldavia. Soon after the accident, the truck caught fire, so the driver immediately called the emergency number.

Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu National College

The Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu National College is the most important high school in Buzău, Romania. It was named after the Romanian scholar and historian Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu. Founded in 1867, it is the oldest state-funded high-school in Buzău.

Stadionul Municipal (Buzău)

Municipal Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located near Crâng Park, in Buzău, Romania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Gloria Buzău. The stadium was built between 1936–1942, on the initiative of Buzău mayor Stan Săraru. It underwent a major refurbishment between 1971 and 1976. It was refurbished again in 2007 when it was transformed into an all-seater stadium.

Vergu-Mănăilă House

The Vergu-Mănăilă house is the oldest surviving building in Buzău, Romania. An 18th century boyar's mansion, renovated between 1971 and 1974, it hosts a museum of ethnography and folk art.
