Battle of Suzdal

The Battle of Suzdal or the battle of the Kamenka river was fought of July 7, 1445 between Russians under Vasily II and Tatars troops of Olug Moxammad, invaded the principality of Nizhny Novgorod. Russians were defeated by troops of beg Maxmud, who became Maxmud of Kazan some after the battle. Vasily was taken prisoner and was set free only after the enormous ransom was paid. He also promised to restitute lands of Mishar Yurt, that were bought from Tokhtamysh in 1343.

Cathedral of the Nativity in Suzdal

The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos in Suzdal Russia is a World Heritage Site. It is one of the eight White Monuments of Vladimir and Suzdal. One of the most complex monuments of Russian medieval architecture. It was originally constructed during the reign of Vladimir II Monomakh during the late 11th century. The Cathedral of the Nativity is surrounded by a ring of earthen walls in an oxbow of Kamenka River.

Suzdal Kremlin

The Suzdal Kremlin is the oldest part of the Russian city of Suzdal, dating from the 10th century. Like other Russian Kremlins, it was originally a fortress or citadel and was the religious and administrative center of the city. It is most notably the site of the Cathedral of the Nativity. Together with several structures in the neighboring city of Vladimir, it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992.

Suzdalsky District

Suzdalsky District is an administrative and municipal district, one of the sixteen in Vladimir Oblast, Russia. It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,479 square kilometers . Its administrative center is the town of Suzdal. Population: 44,114; 39,736; 39,670. The population of Suzdal accounts for 23.9% of the district's total population.

Kideksha

Kideksha is a village in Suzdalsky District of Vladimir Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Kamenka and Nerl Rivers, 4 kilometers east of Suzdal. The settlement was founded before the Church of Boris and Gleb was built in 1152 by Yuri Dolgoruky. Kideksha used to be a town, but, after having been destroyed during the Mongol invasion of Rus, it degraded to a small village. Kideksha is a part of the Golden Ring of Russia and, since 1992, is one of Russia's World Heritage Sites.
