Mosalsky District is an administrative and municipal district, one of the twenty-four in Kaluga Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,320 square kilometers . Its administrative center is the town of Mosalsk. Population: 9,094; 10,357; 11,537. The population of Mosalsk accounts for 47.2% of the district's total population.

Serpeysk

Serpeysk is a village in Meshchovsky District of Kaluga Oblast, Russia, located on the Serpeyka River. It was first noted in 1406 as a military fort on the boundary between Muscovy and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the town changed hands several times. It was definitively incorporated into Muscovite Russia after the Smolensk War in 1634. Once stripped of its garrison, the town dwindled into oblivion.
