Located in the Western Caucasus, it is home to the new Rosa Khutor alpine ski resort, with a base elevation of 560 meters along the Mzymta River, 39 kilometers from its influx into the Black Sea in Adlersky City District of Sochi.

The settlement was founded in 1886 by thirty-six Estonian families who arrived on August 21, 1886 to Krasnaya Polyana to render habitable the lands formerly settled by Sadz.

RusSki Gorki Jumping Center
The RusSki Gorki Jumping Center is a ski jumping venue located in the Esto-Sadok village on the northern slope of Aibaga Ridge in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia. It will host the ski jumping and the ski jumping part of the Nordic combined event for the 2014 Winter Olympics in neighboring Sochi. Two Olympic jumps of K95 (Calculation -point of 95 m) and K125 (125 m) will be constructed for these games with scheduled completion in 2011.

Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex
The Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex is a skiing venue located on the crests and slopes of Psekhako Ridge in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia. For the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in neighboring Sochi, it will host the biathlon and the cross-country skiing portion of the Nordic combined events. Seating 9600 at both the biathlon and the cross country skiing areas, it is scheduled for completion in 2011. Then it will host test events in both 2012 and 2013.
