Narva Reservoir

Narva Reservoir is a reservoir by Narva River, shared by Russia and Estonia. The reservoir was constructed during 1955-1956, during the Soviet times. It provides water to Narva Hydroelectric Station (installed capacity 125 MW, located on the Russian side and owned by the power company TGC-1) and cooling water to the Estonian Narva Power Plants. Its surface area at normal headwater level of 25 metres is 191 square kilometres, of which 40 square kilometres belongs to Estonia.

Kreenholm

Kreenholm is an island in Narva River, in the city of Narva belonging to Estonia. The area of the island is 13 ha (750 meters long and 250 metres wide). The island divides the Narva Waterfall into eastern and western branches. The Estonia–Russia border runs through the eastern branch. Already in the 14th century a sawmill was operating on Kreenholm. In 1538 the Livonian Order built a watermill on the left bank of the river just opposite the island.

Krenholm Manufacturing Company

The Krenholm Manufacturing Company (alternate spelling, Kreenholm; German, Krähnholm, meaning "crow island") is located on the island of Kreenholm in what is now Narva, Estonia, on the border with Russia. It is situated along the banks of the Narva River, by the Narva Falls; the Baltic Sea is approximately 10 miles away, and there is a distance of 75 miles to Saint Petersburg. It was founded by Ludwig Knoop, a cotton merchant from Bremen.
