Shatura

Shatura is a town and the administrative center of Shatursky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on Lake Svyatoye 124 kilometers east of Moscow. Population: 32,885; 30,393; 31,635. A settlement on place of modern Shatura has been known to exist since 1423. In 1917, peat deposits started to be mined in the vicinity.
