Yuryev-Polsky District

Yuryev-Polsky District is an administrative and municipal district, one of the sixteen in Vladimir Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,910 square kilometers . Its administrative center is the town of Yuryev-Polsky. Population: 36,747; 39,023; 42,219. The population of the administrative center accounts for 53.3% of the district's total population.

Saint George Cathedral, Yuryev-Polsky

Saint George Cathedral in Yuryev-Polsky is one of a dozen survived white-stone churches which were built in Vladimir-Suzdal Principality in the northeastern Rus prior to the Mongol invasion. Constructed between 1230 and 1234, the cathedral was also the last of these churches to be built, completed just three years before the invasion. Unlike most of the other pre-Mongol Vladimir-Suzdal churches, the St. George Cathedral was not designated as the World Heritage site.
