Monument to the Soviet war veterans

Monument to the Soviet War Veterans is a monument located on the Avala mountain near Belgrade, Serbia. It is dedicated to members of the Soviet military delegation who were killed in an airplane crash on the Avala on October 19, 1964. The delegation was flying to Belgrade to attend the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Liberation of Belgrade on October 20, 1944, since Red Army forces had taken part in the liberation.

Monument to the Unknown Hero

The Monument to the Unknown Hero (Serbian: Споменик Незнаном јунаку / Spomenik Neznanom junaku) is located atop Mt. Avala in the south-east Belgrade periphery, and was designed by the sculptor Ivan Meštrović. Memorial was built on the location of Žrnov fortress. The construction of this monument was ordered by King Alexander I of Yugoslavia, to commemorate the victims of World War I. Marked only by the dates 1912-1918, the monument also commemorates those lost in the Balkan Wars (1912–1913).
