Galanta District (okres Galanta) is a district in the Trnava Region of western Slovakia. The district lies on the lowland area. Through the district area flows River Váh and its level is regulated by dam in Kráľová nad Váhom. Historically the economy of the district area had relied on agriculture, now the production of white goods is of utmost importance. The Renaissance castle (also known as Renaissance manor house) is one of two most important historical buildings of Galanta along with the Neo-Gothic castle. Originally, a residency of the Esterházy family, it nowadays serves as a part of the regional museum in Slovakia. Its groundfloor serves as place for holding wedding ceremonies and for mayors representational activities, the basement hosts culture and social activities, and the first floor serves as gallery and for museum purposes.
