Hartbeespoort Aerial Cableway

The Hartbeespoort Aerial Cableway (Harties Cableway), originally constructed in 1973, extends to the top of the Magaliesberg and offers panoramic views of the Magaliesberg, Hartbeespoort Dam and the surrounding area. It is situated 1km to the east of the town of Hartbeespoort in the North West Province, and is the longest mono-cableway in Africa.

Hartbeespoort Dam

Hartbeespoort Dam also known as Harties (officially the Hartbeespoort Dam Reservoir) is an arch type dam situated in the North West Province of South Africa{{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:25|44|51|S|27|52|1|E|type:landmark |primary |name= }}. It lies in a valley to the south of the Magaliesberg mountain range and north of the Witwatersberg mountain range, about 35 kilometres west of Pretoria. The name of the dam means "pass of the hartebeest" in Afrikaans.

Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary

Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary is a privately owned multi-specie primate rehabilitation centre situated in the foothills and gorges of the Magaliesberg mountain range, close to Hartbeespoort Dam in the North West Province of South Africa. The sanctuary takes in donated and rescued primates that may have been orphaned, raised as household pets, previously confined to captivity, abused, injured, or recovered from the illegal pet trade.

The Elephant Sanctuary Hartbeespoort Dam

The Elephant Sanctuary Hartbeespoort Dam is an elephant sanctuary providing a safe haven and “halfway house” for African elephants. It provides fully guided interactive elephant educational programs covering elephant habits, dynamics, behavior and anatomy. The main focus of the sanctuary is to educate visitors about all aspects of elephants and elephant husbandry, with the vision to release elephants into an environment where they can be more independent.

Pelindaba

Pelindaba is South Africa's main Nuclear Research Centre, run by The South African Nuclear Energy Corporation, and was the location where South Africa's atomic bombs of the 1970s were developed, constructed and subsequently stored. It is situated near the Hartbeespoort Dam, approximately 33 km (22 miles) west of Pretoria on the farm which belonged to Gustav Preller.
