Baath Dam

The Baath Dam is a dam on the Euphrates, located 22 kilometres upstream from the city of Ar-Raqqah in Ar-Raqqah Governorate, Syria. Construction of the dam started in 1983 and was finished in 1986. It is intended to generate hydroelectric power as well as regulate the irregular flow from the Tabqa Dam, which is located 18 kilometres upstream from the Baath Dam. These irregularities in the flow from the Tabqa Dam are caused by changes in the electricity demand.

Resafa

Resafa, known in Roman times as Sergiopolis and briefly as Anastasiopolis, was a city located in the Roman province of Euphratensis, in modern-day Syria. It is an archaeological site situated south-west of the city of Ar Raqqah and the Euphrates. Procopius describes at length the ramparts and buildings erected there by Justinian.

Ar-Raqqah Museum

The Museum of ar-Raqqah, also known as the Ar-Raqqah Museum or Rakka Museum, was founded in 1981 on the location of a former Palace. The museum is dedicated to the preservation of the culture of the Ar-Raqqah province. The museum's first floor has three sections: Ancient, Classical Vestiges and Modern Art. The second floor is dedicated to Arab and Islamic art.

Ar-Raqqah

Ar-Raqqah, also spelled Rakka, is a city in north central Syria located on the north bank of the Euphrates, about 160 km east of Aleppo. It is the capital of the Al-Raqqah Governorate and one of the main cities of the historical Diyār Muḍar, the western part of the Jazīra. According to the 2004 official census, the population of the city is 220,488 people.
