Masyaf

It was used by Hashashins as their main headquarters after the destruction of their former and first headquarters, Alamut. In popular culture, Masyaf is known for its appearance in the Assassin's Creed video game series. In that series, the castle of Masyaf is the headquarters of the Assassins.

An-Nusayriyah Mountains

The an-Nusayriyah Mountains, also known as al-Alawiyin Mountains (جبال العلويين / Jibāl al-‘Alawīyin)—both names referring to the Alawi sect which has traditionally lived there—or under their Syrian official name of Coastal Mountain Range (سلسلة الجبال الساحلية / Silsilat al-Jibāl al-Sāḥiliyah), are a mountain range in northwestern Syria running north-south, parallel to the coastal plain. Classically they were known as the Bargylus and under the Hashashins were known as the Jabal Bahra.

The Al-Qubeir massacre, also known as the Hama massacre, occurred in the small village of Al-Qubeir near Hama, Syria, on 6 June 2012 during the country's ongoing civil conflict. Al-Qubeir is described as a Sunni farming settlement surrounded by Alawite villages in the central province of Hama.

Al-Qubeir

Al-Qubeir is a settlement in the Hama Governorate of Syria, near the larger village of Maarzaf. Al-Qubeir is described as a Sunni farming enclave surrounded by Alawite villages in the central province of Hama. Al-Qubeir is around 20 kilometers (12 miles) west of the city of Hama with around 30 homes and had around 160 inhabitants.
