Idlib is a city in northwestern Syria, capital of the Idlib Governorate, and 59 kilometers west of Aleppo. It has an elevation of nearly 500 meters above sea level. In the 2004 census by the Central Bureau of Statistics, Idlib had a population of 98,791 (2004 census). The inhabitants are overwhelmingly Sunni Muslims, although there is a significant Christian minority. Iblin, Syria

Iblin, also spelled Ibleen, is a village in the Arihah District in the Idlib Governorate in Syria. It is located in the Zawiya Mountain. On September 8, 2011, murders were reported from Iblin by the Syrian army. The target of the raid were a group of at least eleven soldiers who had taken shelter in Ibleen after defecting from the Syrian army. Footage from the murders were later revealed to be taken from a Rambo DVD.

Mardikh

Mardikh is a village in the Idlib Governorate of Syria. It is the nearest village to the site of historical Ebla ("Tel Mardikh"), south east of Idlib. Nearby localities include Saraqib to the north, Kafr Amim to the east, Maardabsah and Khan al-Sabl to the south and Dadikh to the west. According to the Syria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Mardikh had a population of 32,495 in the 2004 census.
