Trapessac

Trapessac (Turkish: Darbı Sak Kalesi) is a medieval fortress located 4 km north of the town of Kırıkhan in Hatay Province, Turkey. Trapessac was constructed in the 11th century by the Knights Templar and, together with the nearby fortress at Bagras, guarded the Syrian Gates, the principal pass between the coastal region of Cilicia and inland Syria. The castle fell to Saladin in 1188 after a bitterly-fought, two-week siege.

Lake Amik

Lake Amik or the Lake of Antioch was a large freshwater lake in the basin of the Orontes River in Hatay Province, Turkey; it was located north-east of the ancient city of Antioch. The lake was drained during a period from the 1940s-1970s.

Tell Tayinat

Tell Ta'yinat is a low-lying ancient occupation mound on the east bank at the bend of the ancient Orontes river, in the Hatay province of present southeastern Turkey about 25 kilometers south east of Antakya. The site lies some 800 meters from Tell Atchana, the site of the ancient city of Alalakh. It is a possible site of the city of Calneh mentioned in the Hebrew Scriptures.

Alalakh

Alalakh is the name of an ancient city-state near modern Antakya in the Amuq River valley of Turkey's Hatay Province. Now represented by an extensive mound, the name of the modern archaeological site is Tell Atchana.
